The pollution of ships and ports should not be ignored in the great protection of the Yangtze River. According to the statistics of Hubei Provincial Department of transportation, by the end of August, 2853 ships with a gross tonnage of 400 tons or more in Hubei Province had completed ship sewage collection and disposal facilities, and ship pollutant receiving facilities had covered Hubei Province's operating terminals.
In 2018, Hubei Province launched ten landmark campaigns for the great protection of the Yangtze River. The special rectification of illegal wharves along the Yangtze River trunk line, the cleaning up and rectification of the coastline of the Hanjiang port on the Yangtze River, and the prevention and control of port ship pollution are important contents of the ten major campaigns, which are accelerated by the transportation department of Hubei Province.
This year, four ministries and commissions of the state jointly launched a special action to prevent and control pollution from ships and ports, focusing on solving outstanding problems such as inadequate equipment and abnormal operation of ship sewage collection and disposal devices, and illegal discharge of garbage and sewage into the river.
According to reports, the pollution from ships includes domestic garbage, domestic sewage and oily sewage. According to the requirements of Hubei Provincial Department of transportation, fixed or mobile receiving facilities should be equipped at the operating wharf to receive pollutants from ships. At the same time, the ship shore transfer system of ship pollutants shall be established to promote the connection and cooperation of "ship port city" and "collection reception transfer disposal" of ship pollutants, and ship garbage shall be classified into municipal solid waste treatment system for disposal.
At present, Yiling service area of Yichang city has opened up the "last kilometer" of pollution prevention and control of ships and ports. Here, after the ship's pollutant receiving ship connects the transmission pipeline to the shore environmental protection pontoon, the domestic sewage and dirty oil on the ship will enter the bottom cabin of the pontoon respectively along with the pipeline, and then flow along the pipeline to the onshore sewage transfer tank, oil storage tank and other facilities, and effectively connect with the environmental sanitation department, sewage treatment enterprises, oil pollution disposal enterprises, etc
